Use Cases and Testimonials
Captricity has helped companies and organizations of all sizes, across sectors, steamline their paperwork and data entry. Below are just a few examples of work we’ve done, and what our customers had to say.
Catapult Health leads the way in improving employee health through on-site (e.g. at-work) preventive health exams. Captricity helps bridge their paper and digital systems, capturing data from patient satisfaction questionnaires and pushing it directly to their Salesforce-based HMIS. “Captricity is saving us around 400 hours of employee time at the volume we have today,” said Scott Thompson, Catapult’s COO. “As we expand, that number will only increase. Best yet, we can trust that Captricity’s system can handle as many surveys as we throw at it and still turn around all the information overnight for next-day reporting.”
A team of economists from New York University’s Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) used Captricity to digitize surveys evaluating a mobile information system for farmers. After initially hiring students to do the entry, they switched to Captricity, completing a job that had taken over a month in just days, at far lower cost and high accuracy. “Captricity is simple and effective: the features that are built into the system have helped ensure that illegible handwriting and difficult-to-spell village names are entered with minimal errors, which has dramatically reduced the time we spend on data cleaning.”
Code for America is “revitalizing the vendor ecosystem to make government more effective and efficient.” Caprticity participated in their accelerator program. According to Jennifer Pahlka, founder and executive director of the program, “Captricity is already saving several of our city partners tens of thousands of dollars in manual data entry.”
The Fair Political Practices Commission of Californiarecently joined with Captricity to deliver the 2011 Statements of Economic Interests filed by the State’s Judges in a useable and meaningful way, allowing the public to search and download data.”Part of our mandate is to manage public information including the economic interest disclosure documents for public officials,” said Tina Z. Bass, Interim Executive Director of the Fair Political Practices Commission. “Captricity took our scanned documents and converted them to a machine readable format at a very reasonable cost. Now the data is more accessible and easier to analyze.”
PrepSmart, a leader in the test prep space, found that it was too slow and inefficient to grade all of their practice exams by hand, but scantron solutions were too limited and expensive. They turned to Captricity to quickly enter results from multiple-choice, numerical and hand-written responses. “We love how flexible and fast Captricity is,” said Adrian Alvarez, Prepsmart’s Founder and CEO. “We’re getting tests graded five times faster than we used to, at a fraction of the price of scantron, and we were even able to add in short handwritten answers.”
University of California, Berkeley researcher Tarek Ghani used Captricity for a large-scale research project in Afghanistan. ”Captricity has enabled us to dramatically cut the costs and delays associated with data entry in a large field survey project, and enabled us to access the raw survey data for cross-checking in an intuitive and convenient interface. The efficiency gains have allowed us to refocus our attention on getting the most out of our research.”

As an independent insurance broker, David Luc has to do a fair bit of the grunt work himself to make his small business run. He used to spend hours, often at night after a long day, inputting the contact information for new customers into his CRM software. Now, he simply uploads those forms to Captricity and just a short time later has a digital file he can upload directly to the CRM platform. “Captricity has saved me hours that would have otherwise been spent entering data.”
