Member of technical staff (Full-stack, with frontend emphasis)

Are you passionate about building great products with the user in mind?

We need you to build usable and beautiful interfaces that allow everyday users to control our complex data extraction, transformation, and management system. You will hack on the entire stack, from Django to Javascript to HTML/CSS. Got UX chops? Even better.

We run a tight ship around here: that means code reviews, unit tests, and bi-weekly production pushes. The releases are now named after the "best cheesy bands of the 80s" (of course after we exhausted historical figures with glorious mustaches A-Z). Periodically, we run challenge weeks where you demonstrate your creativity and make your own innovative projects a reality.

Member of technical staff (Full-stack, Test emphasis)

Are you passionate about software quality? Do you love to poke holes and find faults and take pride in ensuring that everything works perfectly?

We need you to help build out our Test Engineering automation and increase our test coverage. We already have code reviews, unit tests and continuous integration, but we are not satisfied with where we are and want to take our quality engineering to the next level of sophistication.

Your responsibilities will include test design, test implementation, test execution spanning the full spectrum of whitebox, blackbox, integration, end-to-end, scalability and reliability testing. You must be able to code; this role encompasses much more than manual testing.


  • Testing experience, especially with cloud-based software-as-a-service
  • Experience with testing both front-end and back-end systems
  • Proficiency with test automation tools and frameworks
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills

Field Engineer

Whether in a Manhattan-based Fortune 100 company, government agency in Washington, DC, or rural Namibian health clinic, the Captricity field services team is the vanguard of many organizations’ digital future. The field services engineer is a customer facing, technical member of Captricity services team and a key enabler of customer success.  An engineer on this team works closely with customers and Captricity solution architects to design the applications and map the business requirements to systems/technical requirements. The field engineer is responsible for implementing and administering the solution, and also is involved in its testing and ongoing support.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Participate in process flow analysis to assist in producing a detailed functional design document matching customer requirements, as well as and a technical specification for custom development and systems integration requirements

  • Communicate project status to leadership and and participate in and lead, when needed, project meetings with the customer

  • Design, implement, administer and provide ongoing support for large and small Captricity deployments

  • Execute test plans as part of the UAT efforts; monitor and tune deployment performance.

  • Regularly interface with internal and external technical and business customers, and serve as technical point of contact on customer engagements when needed.

  • Travel on-site to customer locations (up to 50%)


  • Passion for customer success – Ability to empathically listen and understand needs and requirements; to design, engineer and implement solutions

  • Knowledge of linux/python/javascript is a must. Knowledge of data capture / OCR technologies, data management concepts, and distributed systems is beneficial

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Web Service API’s for integration purposes

  • Ability, interest and proven record in providing customer training when needed

  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs

Senior User Experience Designer

Captricity is looking for a seasoned User Experience (UX) designer that has a passion to bridge the technology divide by helping organizations tap into the power of data, cloud computing, and machine learning.

Our mission is to give government, health-care and non-profit organizations non-disruptive access to their valuable data that is often stored within the paper artifacts that run their core human processes. Non-disruptive access means creating human friendly interactions that respect how people do their best work everyday using the familiar people and technology systems already in place.  Captricity’s combination of machine learning and human computing extracts valuable handwritten information creating actionable digital data that our customers can use to drive their mission without expending huge upfront investments. The core engine is magic, but that’s only half of it. The other half is our passionate focus on user experience: at the Launch festival, we won the best technology award for making a previously inaccessible technology category (Enterprise data capture) self serve for any user.

As lead UX Designer, you will represent the voice of the everyday user which means channeling viewpoints of personas ranging from the rural grassroots organizer in Sub-Saharan Africa , a case-manager for a government social service or health clinic supervisor.  Your vision for connecting people and technology will fuel organizational transformation that will have wide reaching impact affecting people from all walks of life.

Your job responsibilities:

  • Be the firm voice of the user to lead design and storyboards before building UX resources

  • Build UX resources for workflows, wireframes, mockups, html and css

  • Work with Product Management (PM) and the rest of the team to articulate and apply a variety of design methodologies to develop concepts and the necessary design and UX artifacts to implement the product vision.

  • Guide Engineers to faithfully implement your fantastic design into the product

  • Test product UX to ensure proper implementation, and filing bugs to track problems/discrepancies

What you need to have:

  • Bachelors/Masters in human-computer interaction or a related field or equivalent practical experience

  • 4+ years experience designing user experiences and interaction design across web and mobile interfaces

  • Excellent visual design skills with obsessive attention to aesthetic detail. We’ll be glad to listen to your views about preferred fonts or visual encodings.

  • Detailed and practical understanding of best practices in iterative user experience design

  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ambition to tackle the biggest problems

Senior Sales Account Executive

Successful candidates will have a measurable track record in building, managing, and delivering high performing sales results. This individual will play a key role driving a significant share of revenue for Captricity. A focus on specific industries in the public sector will be required; healthcare and insurance are primary industry focus areas at this time. This will be an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Industry Sales. We will consider candidates located anywhere in the United States, but preference is given to the major metropolitan areas along the East Coast and to the Chicago area.

Your job responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, develop and close new business opportunities within the assigned industry verticals leveraging the compelling, unique value proposition the Captricity solution provides.

  • Spend a majority of your time with customers, having conversations that identify, qualify, develop and close those opportunities. Travel will be required as needed to deliver on this responsibility.

  • Consistently deliver strong software subscription and service revenue results – commitment to the number and to deadlines is paramount.

  • Frequently work independently to deliver required results; however, the role will also require you to work with our Marketing, Sales Development, Field Engineering and Customer Success teams to build and manage a strong pipeline of new business in a market rich with prospects. The candidate must be a self-starter and utterly reliable.

  • Negotiate favorable pricing and business terms with large commercial enterprises by selling value and ROI.

  • Effectively manage multiple concurrent sales cycles effectively.

  • Understand and creatively articulate the value of the Captricity solution to VP and C- level audiences in a manner that aligns with the prospects’ business needs.

Sales Development Representative

The Sales Development Rep will play an integral role in driving the growth of our customer base and revenue through generating qualified leads for our Mid Market and Enterprise sales reps. This is an excellent opportunity to start your technical sales career.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outbound calls to lead campaigns consisting of warm leads and cold calls
  • Qualify inbound leads via phone, webform, and email
  • Identify opportunities, generate interest, qualify, educate, and develop new opportunities

USG Growth Hacker

Location: Washington DC

Captricity is looking for a team member to transform the public sector in this country and how citizens interact with their government. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial professional with the charisma of a BD rep and superb writing skills. You’ll be responsible for leading proposals, whitepapers, and collateral to support channel partners. You’ll also get your hands dirty at networking events and client/partner meetings to generate sales opportunities and provide partners with the resources and knowledge they need to develop and close business.

You’ll report to and work closely with a Captricity veteran and a small constellation of initial partners to build Captricity’s public sector foundation.
